Nottingham Energy Partnership is a charity dedicated to educating and inspiring action to tackle climate change through retrofitting homes to reduce household energy usage and address the global aim to achieve Zero Carbon. Through its innovative, practical ‘learning by doing’ programmes, NEP helps households improve the energy performance of their homes and understanding of the energy sector.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a dynamic Freelance Marketing and Design Officer to develop and deliver creative promotional campaigns that effectively convey climate change initiatives of the Green Meadows project to the local community.

The Green Meadows project is a local climate action initiative which aims to demonstrate how an inner-city area can take on the challenge of climate change as a community. Essential to the role is a solid knowledge of marketing techniques, content creation and creative skills to support the Marketing Officer.

The Role:

Working with the NEP Marketing team to create and co-ordinate marketing campaigns for the Green Meadows Insulation Guide and Toolshare. You will be responsible for writing engaging copy for promotional materials including: website content, press releases and adverts. You will take publications and materials from concept through to completion as you manage the campaigns. You will also create a constant flow of communications onto our digital platforms (for example the website and social media page) and into the local media (press and radio). This could entail the coordination of media opportunities and events. You will also be required to design a series of banners and signs promoting the Green Meadows project and develop the quarterly marketing print publication ‘Voices’ which is delivered to all households in the Meadows.

Responsibilities :

  • Work alongside the Marketing Officer to deliver campaign initiatives.  

  • Plan, co-ordinate and implement creative promotional strategies to promote the Insulation Guide and Toolshare projects.  

  • Write clearly and concisely in the creation of offline marketing and communication resources (letters, leaflets, posters etc.;).  

  • Design banners and display boards to be placed throughout community that communicate the Green Meadows brand story and create a meaningful impression. 

  • Maintain the communications resource library with relevant photographs.  

  • Keep the website up to date with the latest news.  

  • Apply SEO techniques to increase website traffic.  

  • Maintain website and social media accounts and provide analytics.  

  • Keep up to date with developments in social media and implement.  

  • Produce short videos for our social media channels.  

  • Adhere to project branding. 

  • Be competent at delivering presentations.

What skills and experience you should bring:  

  • Degree in marketing, business administration or relevant field with proven experience of digital marketing.  

  • Experience as a Marketing Assistant/Executive is preferable.  

  • Solid knowledge of marketing techniques and principles e.g., visual language, consistency of design.  

  • Conducting research and writing blogs. 

  • Statistical and data analysis methods including experience of social media and web analytics. 

  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications and marketing software. 

  • Experience using Adobe InDesign or Affinity Designer is essential. 

  • Good organisational and multi-tasking skills. 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
