Community Mural Winner Announced!
Back in January, we asked you, the people of the Meadows, to vote on your favourite submission for our Community Mural.
With the theme of “Together our planet, together our future”, the mural will act as a visual reminder of the community’s aspirations in tackling climate change.
We received a staggering 250 votes from our community to shortlist our 3 final designs, and with the help of our judging panel, the time has come to announce our winner!
The decision wasn’t easy, with the panel having high praise for all 5 final designs…
We’re delighted to present the first prize to Rob Catterall (a.k.a Rise & Signs)!
Rob’s design calls back to the “rich imagery contributed by members of The Meadows Community”, while calling attention to the need for a “cleaner and greener future”.
Rob’s design will feature on the side of a property in Mayfield Court, and will be visible from Sherriff’s way.
The clean and classic design will fit perfectly into The Meadows, serving as a reminder that community action can help to make global change.
You can expect to see it completed during the summer, with more announcements about its completion coming very soon.
Congratulations , Rob!
In second place, we’re pleased to announce Nathan Bainbridge (a.k.a SmallKid Design)!
Nathan’s design was based on the layout of our neighbours AMC Gardens, with a circular shape split into five distinct sections.
Featuring images of community submissions from local Meadows schools, the panel felt this mural served as a great example of involving the community when tackling climate change.
In third place, we have the beautiful mural courtesy of Gordon Collet!
Gordon’s focus on his design was to be immediately understandable, and we couldn’t agree more.
Doing away with self-described “style-over-content” designs, Gordon “Shares (Green Meadows’) motivation for sustainable living and doing all we can for the environment”.
We’d like to give a massive thank you to all the artists for their fantastic submissions, we were overwhelmed with responses and support in tackling climate change, we couldn’t have done it without you! Local artists, residents, school children and more all took part and provided ideas to inspire and create.
A massive thank you to Nottingham City Homes for supporting the voting, as well as Nottingham City Council for providing the site for the mural.
Finally, we’d like to share our gratitude with you, the people of The Meadows. Your ideas and contributions helped fuel this project, we love to see and hear what you have to offer, and your connection to your community never ceases to amaze us!
Green Meadows is a climate change project helping to support Nottingham City’s Carbon Neutral 2028 goals!
