Practical Introduction to Conservation Retrofit Course
Retrofit. The Right Way.
The Practical Introduction to Conservation Retrofit course has been developed and written in partnership by two industry leading specialists – Nottingham Energy Partnership and UK Hempcrete.
Around 1/3 of UK homes are traditionally constructed. To make these buildings energy efficient and liveable for future generations, we need to retrofit them in the right way. This involves using suitable and sustainable materials and techniques, which aren’t always common knowledge – even to some tradespeople.
The hands-on 8 week course introduces those working – or aspiring to work – within the growing retrofit industry to the principles and practice underpinning successful retrofit of traditionally constructed buildings.
What to expect:
This introductory course combines practical, hands-on learning with the theory which supports it. It provides an overview of the issues surrounding the retrofit of traditionally constructed buildings, and offers best practice solutions.
Participants will get hands-on experience of a wide range of retrofit techniques and appropriate materials for the retrofit of these buildings. They will gain an understanding of how to approach retrofit projects in buildings of architectural significance.
The learning from this course can be used to kick start a career in the retrofit industry, or to develop the skills and understanding of those already working in retrofit to enable them to apply their work to the traditionally constructed built environment.
