Future-Fit Homes
Do you live in the new Meadows?
If so, you might be eligible for a FREE Future Fit survey! Contact us to find out more.
A Future-Fit Home Plan is a FREE tailored plan showing how you can cut your energy bills, lower your carbon emissions and improve the comfort and warmth of your home.
How does it work?
1) Book your free home survey at a time to suit you.
2) Our surveyor will visit your home to carry out a full assessment.
3) We put together a personalised Future-Fit Home Plan - a step-by-step plan full of the information you need to make energy saving changes to your home.
4) We will deliver your home plan in-person and discuss the options for putting your plan into action. We can tell you about our scheme ‘Future Fit Works’ which funds the ‘easy wins’ outlined on your plan.
Are you in the Old Meadows Conservation area?
Check out our free insulation guides:
If you live in the Old Meadows Conservation area, we have created personalised guides which tell you how to add insulation to your Victorian home. The guides include information on how to deal with common tricky details (e.g. where your roof insulation meets the wall insulation).
Our online portal lets you select the specific details of your home, crafting a personalised guide tailored to your home. Get started here.
To offer further guidance, a member of our team can do a one hour home visit to advise on measures and bring along a paperback copy of the insulation guide for your reference. For more info, call 0115 718 2028, or complete the request form at the bottom of the page.

What will be in my Future-Fit Plans?
-
We will identify free or low-cost actions and simple DIY jobs which will reduce how much energy you use in your home.
-
Taking a “fabric first” approach means making sure that as little energy as possible is lost through the “fabric” of your home - i.e walls, floors and roof. This is usually done through insulating and draughtproofing
-
Once you’ve made sure that your home is losing as little heat as possible, it is time to take a look at your heating system. We will consider what is the most efficient way to heat your home, and at what stage it is worth replacing your current system.
-
After reducing how much energy your home uses, we can consider whether your home may be suitable for renewable technologies such as solar panels.
How Future-Fit Plan differs to an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)?
A Future-Fit plan is tailored to your home. The recommendations are generated by real human beings who know their stuff, rather than automated computer systems.
It is a step-by-step plan, which considers the best order in which to make improvements, and how to pair energy saving measures with routine maintenance jobs.
Our assessments and modelling are far more in depth than those used for an EPC, so we can give you a more realistic idea of how much energy you will save.
What is Future-Fit Works?
Future-Fit Works acts as the next step of your Future-Fit plan. Funded by the Cadent Foundation, we can now offer free grants to improve on the “fabric” measures on your home improvement plan..
These start with practical solutions, such as improving the ventilation of your home and draught-proofing the doors, expanding to energy efficiency measures, such as loft insulation and pipework insulation.
The improvements are informed and installed by trained professionals, kickstarting your long-term plan with quality work at no cost to you.
