Climate Change can be an overwhelming issue.
We want to share the wonders of our planet, the science behind the headlines and tips for the future through Community Learning.
By doing so, we hope you, your family and your community can feel empowered and ready to take action.
-
We are working with local schools to bring Climate Change into their curriculum.
This includes lessons that combine science, art and storytelling.
We’d encourage you to speak with your teachers about the topic and how our teams can get involved!

We’d love to know what you’d like our workshops and our events to focus on!

Climate Champions
-
The great ideas needed to tackle climate change come from individuals just like you, and we want to help support you to transform those ideas into action. By becoming a Climate Champion, you will join a wider network of people acting to make The Meadows and the planet a better place.
Climate Champions will receive training and support to build a movement driving and delivering a real change in the Meadows and beyond.
-
To be a voice from The Meadows, For the Meadows
Meadows residents know their community best, that’s why we want you to decide what steps should be taken towards a greener future. The Climate Champions will listen to the community’s needs to find tangible solutions.
To inspire others to take action
To tackle Climate Change effectively, we need to make changes individually and as a community. Climate Champions will support and enable others to play an active role in local Climate Change solutions.
To build a Climate Change movement
We want to build a movement which will evolve to outlive the lottery funded Green Meadows, allowing people to create their own self-sustaining initiatives and make real change happen.
To be a community ambassador
Become a mentor for future Climate Champions and be a model example for your community.
-
As a community, we can make a huge difference to our environmental impact by looking at our food, transport and waste. A Climate Champion will identify what is preventing their community from making those changes and create a viable solution.
-
Your future
Becoming a Climate Champion is a fun and rewarding role. You will receive excellent training to equip you with the knowledge needed to start bringing your ideas to fruition.
When you join the programme, we will work with you to identify the areas of training you aspire to develop or learn to further your skills in the future.
The Meadows
The Climate Champions are at the heart of the Green Meadows project. Your ideas will help your community tackle climate change and build the capacity of the area. Your project will have a lasting effect on your community, inspire others to take action and pave the way towards a greener future.
The Planet
Climate change is a global issue, which may seem impossible to solve alone. As a Climate Champion, you will join the climate action movement, alongside millions of people around the world, determined to tackle climate change together.

Community Mural
-
This vibrant piece of public art will become a central landmark of the area, brightening up The Meadows’ entrance.
With its theme of “Together our planet, together our future”, it will act as a visual reminder of the community’s aspirations to tackle climate change together.
Last year, we invited you to make a mark on The Meadows and contribute your ideas, drawings, sculptures, stories and poems.
We were blown away by all the submissions you had to offer! You can now see the final 5 designs exhibited at the Bridgeway Shopping Centre and the Meadows Library!
-
Six professional mural artists - Gordon Collett, Kid30, Jim Vision, Anna Wheelhouse, Rise and Signs and Zabout - have been shortlisted to create designs based on your submissions.
Each artist has submitted a statement alongside their design, which describes their creative process.
Drawing inspiration from their visit to The Meadows area, the Green Meadows project, and the community submissions, these artist statements are a great insight into the story behind each artist’s vision.

The Community Mural will be located right here in The Meadows.
The final design will be visible from afar on the main pathways and roads linking The Meadows with Nottingham City Centre and West Bridgford.
-
It’s important for us to look ahead into the future and visualise the impact we, as a community and as Green Meadows, want to create.
As well as creatively involving The Meadows community, we want to show both residents and visitors how usual materials can be swapped for greener alternatives like the external wall insulation placed on the surface and breathable paints used for the mural design.
